The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing to have Rashee Rice back in their receiving lineup. He missed the team’s previous two games with a hamstring injury.
Rice is expected to play against the Denver Broncos on Sunday after returning to practice this week. His availability gives Patrick Mahomes another receiving option.
Chiefs prepare for WR’s return
The Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice returned to full participation in practice this week following a hamstring injury. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that Rice has no injury designation for the Week 8 matchup. Head coach Andy Reid also confirmed on October 30 that Rice would play.

Schefter wrote, “Chiefs WR Rashee Rice has no injury designation status for Sunday and is expected to play Sunday vs. the Broncos.”
The Chiefs selected Rice in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft with the 55th overall pick. He played college football at Southern Methodist University before joining to the Chiefs.
Rice recorded 79 receptions for 938 yards and seven touchdowns in 16 games during his rookie season in 2023. His reception and touchdown totals set Chiefs rookie records. He also had more than 100 receiving yards in two games.
In the playoffs, Rice caught eight passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns against the Miami Dolphins in the Wild Card round. He finished the postseason with 26 receptions for 262 yards, setting franchise rookie records in both categories.
Rice appeared in four games in 2024, recording 24 receptions for 288 yards and two touchdowns. In 2025, he played eight games and finished with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns, along with 20 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.
Rice injured his hamstring during the Chiefs’ Week 4 game against the Las Vegas Raiders. He missed the rest of that game and the team’s next two matchups. After a Week 5 bye, Kansas City faced the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6 and the Seattle Seahawks in Week 7.
He was limited on Thursday and completed a full practice on Friday. The Chiefs did not list him on their final injury report, leaving him without a game-status designation.
The Chiefs went 1-1 in the two games Rice missed, defeating the Chargers 22-6 before losing 20-3 to the Seahawks. During that stretch, Xavier Worthy recorded 10 receptions for 84 yards. He had seven catches for 73 yards against the Chargers and three catches for 11 yards against Seattle.
Before his injury, Rice recorded 11 receptions for 171 yards in games against the Indianapolis Colts and Miami Dolphins. He had four catches for 83 yards against Indianapolis and seven for 88 yards against Miami.
Rice caught a touchdown pass from Mahomes in the Chiefs’ Week 1 game against Denver, finishing with two receptions for 19 yards. Kansas City won that matchup 31-10.
Rice’s availability follows a full practice on Friday and the Chiefs’ decision to leave him off the final injury report ahead of Week 8.
