Perhaps nothing is more telling about how much of an impact Jeffery Simmons made on the Tennessee Titans defense than how excited Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor was to not play against him.
Taylor was so thrilled his team would not be playing against Simmons that he called his brother, Press Taylor, who is the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears, expressing his joy about the trade due to Cincinnati’s upcoming game against the Titans.
Press Taylor said his brother FaceTimed him with a huge smile on his face: “We plan the Titans this week,” Zac Taylor said.

Tennessee is going into this game with just one win, while Cincinnati is looking to make a playoff push. The Titans were already an underdog in this game, but they are now at a greater disadvantage. On the bright side for Tennessee, they have a lot of draft capital to work with following the Simmons trade to Chicago.
The Titans will be going into the 2027 NFL Draft with two first-round picks. Given their current record, it appears Tennessee will have a high pick to start rebuilding their offense around quarterback Cam Ward and get the defense back to playing competitively. It is unclear how high their other first-round pick is going to be, but this draft class is expected to have a lot of defensive talent, giving Tennessee the opportunity to draft a defensive tackle to fill in the void left by the Simmons trade.
