In the aftermath of Caleb Williams’ injury, Case Keenum has been trusted by Ben Johnson to shepherd the Chicago Bears offense.
Williams’ injury might not be as severe as once feared, but his Grade 1 Hamstring strain will force him to miss some time.
In his absence, along with Tyson Bagent being in the league’s concussion protocol, third-string veteran QB Case Keenum will be filling in for the Bears.
Speaking ahead of their Monday Night Football game against the Philadelphia Eagles, his praise for Johnson was effusive.

Case Keenum says Ben Johnson will be considered the ‘best’ coach when it’s all said and done
Speaking to reporters, Chicago Bears quarterback Case Keenum spoke about Ben Johnson and how he influenced him to join the team after time away from the league.
Keenum suggested that Johnson would go down as the best coach that he’s ever worked with, if not the greatest coach of all time.
“I’ve been around a lot of great coaches in my lifetime. My dad being the first one. I see just about every coach I’ve ever had like a father figure.
“We’re a little closer to brothers, I think. That respect I have for great coaches, man, you want to run through a brick wall for the man.
“If I get a chance to have that guy in my ear, golly man. He’s gonna go down as probably the best play-caller, play designer, coach — all of the above — when it’s all said and done.
“Some of the stuff that man does is unbelievable. And the way he sees the game, the way he’s able to prepare guys, the way he leads; I am the biggest Ben Johnson fan.
“I’m here right now because of him. I was retired, and he called me two years ago… I want to do it with this guy.
“It has been such a pleasure. I’ve found the love of football again, working with him. I can’t say enough good things about Ben.”
The impact Johnson has had on his players is palpable, with everyone on the Bears roster showing the young coach immense respect for the role he has played in turning the franchise’s fortunes around.
