To this point of the season, injuries to the pitching staff have derailed the Toronto Blue Jays tremendously.

With closer Jeff Hoffman’s struggles, Tyler Rogers and Louis Varland are Toronto’s two most trusted relievers.

If the Blue Jays can weather the storm and stay within striking distance of one of the three Wild Card spots by the time the trade deadline arrives, the AL East club could be in the market for multiple bullpen arms.

Bleacher Report’s Tim Kelly wrote Thursday that the Blue Jays could give a call to the Washington Nationals about a former New York Yankees pitching prospect.

“Washington reliever Clayton Beeter would be an interesting trade target for general manager Ross Atkins. The 27-year-old has a 2.41 ERA in 39 games since joining the Nationals last July,” Kelly wrote. “He won’t even become arbitration eligible until 2029, so he could become a long-term piece in the bullpen for the Blue Jays.”

Beeter was acquired by the Nationals last summer in the trade that sent infielder Amed Rosario to the Yankees.

Command is a glaring issue for the 27-year-old, as he’s already thrown six wild pitches with 13 walks in 17 innings in 2026.

Beeter throws just two pitches, a four-seam fastball and slider, with opponents hitting .083 against the latter.

He may not be the answer to the Blue Jays’ problems and save their season, but the Nationals’ asking price shouldn’t be steep by any stretch of the imagination.
