Barcelona’s remarkable recovery on and off the pitch has received another major boost.

After a few years of financial struggles due to mismanagement by previous boards, the club are slowly finding their feet and returning to where they belong.

Football Benchmark’s latest annual report, as quoted by SPORT, has seen the Catalan club named as the fastest-growing football brand in Europe.

The study places Barcelona’s value at €5.92 billion, a 33% increase compared to the previous year.

The Catalans have also recorded the largest absolute growth among all clubs analysed, adding €1.46 billion to their valuation in just 12 months.

The rankings take into account a range of factors, including revenue generation, sporting performance, brand strength and overall business potential.

This growth has been enough to lift Barcelona into second place among Europe’s most valuable clubs.

While Barcelona’s rise has been impressive, Real Madrid remain at the top of the rankings. The club’s valuation has reached a record €7.73 billion, the highest figure ever recorded for a football club.

Real Madrid’s continued growth does not come as a surprise, but Barcelona’s rate has surpassed every other club in the study, highlighting the good work being done at the Catalan club.

The figure also places Barcelona ahead of Manchester City and Manchester United, who occupy third and fourth place, respectively.

Financial recovery coincides with sporting progress

A stronger financial position also allows for stronger squad planning, and this has already been visible in the way the club moved to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United for €80 million.

Barcelona are finally being viewed once again as one of Europe’s strongest sporting institutions, and it would not come as a surprise to see the club make some more major moves in the summer transfer window.
