Arsenal consider John Stones and Ezri Konsa as potential Saliba replacements

Arsenal will be without William Saliba for an “extended period of time” following the back injury which forced him off the pitch in France’s World Cup semifinal defeat to Spain, and according to Sky Sports, the Gunners are looking at England  duo John Stones and Ezri Konsa as options to stand in.

Stones spent a decade at Manchester City, and during that time, he worked with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, who plied his trade as an assistant to Pep Guardiola at the Etihad for three years. At the age of 32, he is a free agent, which makes him an attractive option for a number of clubs seeking to strengthen their back line.

Konsa is, on one hand, four years younger than Stones, but on the other, he has two years left on his contract with Aston Villa and following his fine performances at the World Cup, he certainly won’t come cheap. There is, apparently, a significant gap in valuation of his services by the two clubs.
