Carlos Alcaraz sealed the Erste Bank Open title without dropping a set after sweeping aside Alex De Minaur 6-1, 6-4 in the indoor final in Vienna on Sunday.
De Minaur was only able to hold serve once in the opening set as Alcaraz proved too powerful, winning it in 37 minutes, but the Australian put up more resistance in the second.
The world number 10 fended off break points in the second, fourth and eighth games before Alcaraz set up another in the 10th, this time taking it to secure victory on his first match point.
Alcaraz, who secured his fourth tour-level trophy of an injury-hit season, said: “I tried to be aggressive and show him that if he wants to win, he has to play better, more aggressive, more solid, and be smarter than me.
“I’m just really happy that at the end I found my way, played great, and obviously it has been a really emotional and amazing week for me.”
