Everything is going Miami football’s way early in the 2026 college football season, and adidas is giving the Hurricanes the proper treatment in their final year with the brand.
The Hurricanes are 3-0 this season with Darian Mensah and Malachi Toney making their Heisman Trophy cases. Meanwhile, the ACC program is receiving national attention as a legitimate College Football Playoff contender.
Miami will shift its football and college basketball apparel to Nike starting in 2027. However, adidas has an iconic remake in the works as Mensah and Co. push for a national championship.
Adidas plans to replicate the same uniforms worn by the 2001 Hurricanes team, which is considered one of the greatest college football rosters of all-time.

Larry Coker’s 2001 squad set all kinds of records as the Hurricanes eventually won the national championship. The team featured future NFL stars like Ed Reed, Andre Johnson, Sean Taylor and Clinton Portis.
Meanwhile, the current Hurricanes team has its own legacy on the line in 2026 with all eyes watching. Miami is currently ranked no. 6 in the country after its 3-0 start and having reached the CFP title game last season.
It’s unclear when Miami will rock their throwback jerseys, but it’ll be cinema for the ACC school. The Hurricane’s most notable game remaining on the regular season schedule comes in November against no. 3 ranked Notre Dame.
Perhaps adidas will save the iconic uniforms for later in 2026 if the Hurricanes get back to the CFP and push for a national title. It could be the perfect setup as the school tries to emulate its historic 2001 campaign.
