Karim Adeyemi is relishing a reunion with his former Germany head coach Hansi Flick at Barcelona, which he believes is “the best club in the world”.

On Thursday, it was confirmed that Adeyemi had penned a five-year contract at Camp Nou, having completed a €22m switch from Borussia Dortmund.

Adeyemi scored 35 goals and provided 22 assists in 145 appearances for Dortmund throughout four seasons, having joined the Bundesliga side from Salzburg in 2022.

He helped them reach the Champions League final in 2023-24, playing 72 minutes as they lost 2-0 to Real Madrid at Wembley Stadium.

Following his move to the Spanish top flight, Adeyemi will be reunited with the man who gave him his senior Germany debut and named him to their 2022 World Cup squad, Flick.

“I’ve spoken to him and I trust him completely,” Adeyemi told Barca’s website when asked about Flick’s role in the transfer.

“He’s told me what he needs for this club, and I’m ready to do whatever the team needs to achieve our objectives.

“Flick can count on me to give everything for him, for the team and for the fans.”

Barca have won back-to-back editions of LaLiga under Flick, having also led them to a Copa del Rey success in 2024-25 and two Supercopa de Espana crowns.

The only thing missing for the Blaugrana under the German is a Champions League triumph, with the Catalan giants having not won Europe’s premier club competition since 2014-15.

Asked about his ambitions with his new club, the 24-year-old said: “I’m here to win titles.

“I think Barca is the best club in the world because of its history, the great players who have played here, and the special connection it has with Catalonia.

“From day one, I’ve felt that it’s a different kind of club.”

Barca’s opening game of the LaLiga season is away at Elche on August 23, before they host Athletic Club and Rayo Vallecano on matchdays two and three.
