The Green Bay Packers are spending money this offseason.
They’ve got several young players that they believe are a part of the core of this team, especially on offense, and general manager Brian Gutekunst and director of football operations Russ Ball have loosened the purse strings.
First, it was a three-year, $50 million extension for wide receiver Jayden Reed. Then, the Packers made that deal look small by giving wideout Christian Watson a four-year, $110.5 million contract extension.
Reed is the No. 50 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, and when he’s healthy, he has all the capability in the world to be one of the most dynamic wideouts in the league. The same can be said for Watson, who has true WR1 potential when he’s healthy. The Packers selected him with the No. 34 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Green Bay may not be done this offseason, though. That’s according to longtime NFL reporter Ian Rapoport. According to him, getting Kraft extended is a priority for the Packers.
“I would consider Tucker Kraft a big-time priority for the Green Bay Packers,” Rapoport recently reported. “You’re talking about a guy who will probably reset the tight end market.”

It’s somewhat scary that Kraft also deserves the “when healthy” label, because it’s worth remembering that he’s coming off a torn ACL that he suffered in Week 9 of the 2025 NFL season.
Before that injury, though, Kraft was becoming not just a star for the Packers, but one of the bright young offensive stars in the NFL. He caught 32 passes for 489 yards and six touchdowns in just eight games last season.
He was en route to what appeared to be a potential All-Pro season, and it’s worth noting that all indications this offseason are that Kraft is back in action and looking good.

Again, you don’t like the idea that two of these extensions as well as this potential one for Kraft all have injury concerns as the only downsides to them, but there is no reason to believe that the South Dakota State product won’t come back stronger and better than ever in 2026.
As far as topping out the market is concerned, keep in mind that George Kittle of the San Francisco 49ers, thought of as arguably the best tight end in the league, signed a four-year extension worth $76.4 million ahead of the 2025 season. That deal included $40 million in guaranteed money.
