The expectation is that Savinho will complete a move from Manchester City to Tottenham at some point during the upcoming summer transfer window. If that were to occur, City will be in the market for another winger. You could mount a compelling argument that the FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders need another winger irrespective of what happens with Savinho. What type of player City needs out wide isn’t immediately clear. However, a new report has named Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye as a potential target for Manchester City. Ndiaye isn’t a player that will move the needle, so to speak. However, the Senegalese international could prove to be a shrewd signing for City if it is a move they pursue.

Iliman Ndiaye is a player reportedly on the radar of Manchester City.

A new report has emerged naming Everton’s versatile front man, Iliman Ndiaye, as a potential summer transfer target for Manchester City. Give Me Sport has relayed a report from Alan Nixon that states that Everton would be willing to sell Ndiaye this summer for ‘the right price’. Also, it is revealed that the Senegalese international would be interested in a summer move to the FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders. Also, it is reported that Ndiaye is well aware that he wouldn’t be an automatic starter at City. Lastly, it is reported that Everton would expect a sizable transfer fee to sell Ndiaye this summer.

A player like Iliman Ndiaye could be a shrewd addition to the City squad.

There is no doubt that it will be a busy summer for Manchester City in the transfer market. It is expected that City will spend big to bolster their midfield. It would appear that City would have to. If that proves to be the case, it would not come as a surprise to see Hugo Viana look for shrewd deals in the market to bolster City’s squad. Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye could prove to be one.

Iliman Ndiaye is a versatile player who can play in a variety of roles in the final third. Ndiaye can play on either wing or just behind a striker. That versatility could be useful in Manchester City’s squad. At 26 years of age, Ndiaye is in his peak years and he is a proven player in the Premier League. Although, at Everton, his goal scoring record isn’t elite, nor is he a creative force. In 71 appearances for Everton, Ndiaye has scored 17 goals and added 3 assists. Those numbers hardly jump off the page. However, Ndiaye’s overall quality as a player could of use to Manchester City.

The strengths of Iliman Ndiaye’s game do complement the City squad.

Ndiaye is exceptionally gifted technically, which stands out when he plays on either wing. Iliman Ndiaye carries the ball extremely well whether he is coming inside from the left or looking to get outside a defender on the right. Also, the Senegalese international is a threat when he is in the middle in possession and with his intelligent movement. Ndiaye’s close control and body positioning are elite, and this allows him to create openings in possession. He does his best work in transition for Everton, so perhaps you wonder if he would get the same opportunities at Manchester City.

While not a prolific goal scorer, Iliman Ndiaye does take up good positions in the final third. He is often seen at the back post for Everton for tap-ins, although his runs and positioning don’t translate to goals as they should. That trait of Ndiaye’s should slot in well with the City squad, given the number of crosses City deliver to the back post that go begging.

Out of possession, Iliman Ndiaye is superb. He is a willing presser of Everton’s opponents. He often leads their press and isn’t afraid to get stuck in. Ndiaye also gets back exceptionally well to help his team, and this does catch the eye in his play. Ndiaye’s out-of-possession work would be a good fit for Manchester City on first inspection.

Final thoughts.

Manchester City do need another winger this summer irrespective of what happens with Savinho. While Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye isn’t a name that will create headlines, the Senegalese international is a player who could be a useful squad player for City if they feel that they need a player who can come in and work for the team. Ndiaye could be a player who would go up a level in a better team than Everton, so it makes sense why City would be interested in signing the Senegalese international.
