October was a strong month on Netflix, with plenty of new and returning shows keeping the whole world entertained. The return of Adam Brody and Kristen Bell‘s rabbi and sex podcaster in Nobody Wants This was the latest big hit of October, with other favorites last month including the six-episode miniseries Below, written and created by The Umbrella Academy‘s Jesse McKeown, Florence Pugh‘s adaptation of East of Eden, and so much more. So how do you start November? Here’s a look at three shows you should binge-watch on Netflix this weekend.

‘Happy’s Place’ (2024–Present)

IMDb: 6.1/10

Late last month, one of the most comforting returning shows was Happy’s Place, which made its Season 3 debut on NBC. If you’re yet to try the Reba McEntire-led sitcom on network TV, then why not sample the first season, which is available now on Netflix? The series follows McEntire’s Bobbie after she inherits a restaurant from her late father, but chaos ensues when she learns that she must share it with her newly discovered half-sister.

The Queen of Country herself is joined by Belissa Escobedo (Hocus Pocus 2), Melissa Peterman (Reba), Rex Linn (Young Sheldon), Pablo Castelblanco (Alaska Daily), and Tokala Black Elk (Yellowstone) in this heartwarming sitcom, packed with memorable characters and clever writing. For lovers of more traditional network comedy in this fast-paced streaming landscape, Happy’s Place is for you.

Four Netflix characters, four completely different ways of showing up
for somebody. This is the one who fits how you actually do friendship, and what having them in your
life would be like.

You do not do friendship at half volume, and neither does he.
What you want is somebody who says yes to the plan before you have finished describing the
plan.

  • Dustin is the friend the entire show runs on: loyal past the point of sense,
enthusiastic about everything, and incapable of leaving anybody behind.
  • You have the same instinct. Your friendships are loud, specific and slightly ridiculous,
and they last for decades because of it.
  • He is also the one person who would take your strangest interest completely seriously,
which is far rarer than it sounds.
  • You would have a group chat. It would never once be quiet.

You are the friend who makes things happen, and so is she.
Together you would be mildly exhausting to everyone around you and completely delighted with
yourselves.

  • Emily treats an ordinary Tuesday as something that could be turned into an occasion,
which is either the best or the worst quality in a friend depending on your energy
    levels.
  • You share her refusal to sit still. Neither of you has ever accepted a night in when
    something was happening somewhere else.
  • She is far more loyal than people give her credit for. She defends her friends loudly,
publicly, and occasionally before checking the facts.
  • She would post the photo without asking. You would forgive her, because it is a very
    good photo.

You have no patience for pleasant lies, and she has no ability to
tell them. What looks like coldness from the outside is the most reliable friendship on this
list.

  • Wednesday never says a kind thing she does not mean, which makes the rare ones count for
    an enormous amount.
  • You would rather be told the truth than be made comfortable. She is constitutionally
incapable of offering you anything else.
  • Underneath all of it she is ferociously protective. She simply refuses to make a
    performance out of caring.
  • Do not expect a birthday message. Do expect her to ruin anyone who wrongs you.

You look after whoever is having the worst day. So does he. It is
the least strategic way to move through the world and the best possible quality in a friend.

  • Gi-hun is not the strongest player in Squid Game, or the cleverest. He is the one who
keeps choosing to protect somebody else, over and over, at genuine cost to himself.
  • You have the same instinct. You notice who is struggling and you stay with them, long
after anybody would blame you for leaving.
  • He is a flawed friend, and that is part of why it lands. He lets people down, then comes
back and tries again, which is more than most manage.
  • He would give you his last chance and never once mention that he had done it.

2

‘Rectify’ (2013–2016)

Rotten Tomatoes: 96% | IMDb: 8.3/10

If you’re looking for something harder-hitting this week, then Rectify should be right at the top of your watchlist. Created by Ray McKinnon, this first original series from Sundance TV follows Daniel Holden (Aden Young) as he is released after 19 years on Georgia’s Death Row when new DNA evidence throws the whole conviction up in the air.

Over four seasons and 30 episodes, Rectify proves it’s one of the smartest and most stylish dramas of its time. A deeply affecting atmosphere is cleverly crafted throughout, helping provide the perfect backdrop for this intense story. Rectify was described as a “powerful, subtle dramatic series” when it won the 2014 Peabody Award, one of several accolades this brilliant creation earned.

‘Minimum Wage’ (2026)

Rotten Tomatoes: 82% | IMDb: 6.6/10

One of the late arrivals to Netflix last month has already flown under the radar, so why not start November by catching up on this hilarious gem? If The Office is the ultimate workplace mockumentary, then this is the freshest option for Gen Z. Packed with young, fast-paced humor, this comedy, based on the web series of the same name, has earned strong reviews since its debut. Called “energetic,” “amusing,” and full of “bursts of talent” by critics, Minimum Wage is the newest hidden gem on Netflix and is ready to be discovered this week.
