15 best available free agents for Jaguars before training camp

The roster-building portion of the NFL offseason is behind us, but that doesn’t mean that Jacksonville Jaguars GM James Gladstone is done adding to the roster.

As we saw last year, Gladstone is willing to continually tweak the roster heading into training camp and as camp unfolds.

Although the Jaguars don’t have an abundance of salary cap space, it’s not as if any additions at this stage of the offseason are going to break the bank either.

So if Gladstone does want to further bolster his roster, who are the best available free agents still available?

Matt Bowen of ESPN recently updated his list of the top 15 players. Below is a positional breakdown of those players and whether the Jaguars have a need there.

What’s the need for the Jaguars? Jacksonville experienced no roster turnover along the offensive line this offseason, while they added Emmanuel Pregnon to the mix. With last year’s starting five returning and the key players off the bench still on the team, another addition isn’t needed.

What’s the need for the Jaguars? Again, there isn’t one. While addressing wideout was on Gladstone’s radar earlier in the offseason, he did that in the draft, selecting CJ Williams and Josh Cameron. The top of the Jaguars’ wide receiver depth chart is set as well.

What’s the need for the Jaguars? This is one position where an addition could be justified. While Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker will lead the way, there is a lot of inexperienced depth behind them.

What’s the need for the Jaguars? After adding Nate Boerkircher and Tanner Koziol in the draft, there is no need at tight end. In fact, it’s a crowded room, with Hunter Long potentially on the outside looking in.

What’s the need for the Jaguars? With a starting spot up for grabs, perhaps one could justify the Jaguars making an addition here. That said, the team has been very bullish about Ventrell Miller all offseason, while Jack Kiser and Branson Combs garnered some attention during minicamp.

What’s the need for the Jaguars? The top of the Jaguars’ cornerback depth chart is set, while Christian Braswell and Jabbar Muhammad could round out the depth chart after their performances this spring. At safety, the Jaguars have already invested a lot into this position group the last two years, with all spots on the future 53-man potentially accounted for already.
