In eight starts on the senior circuit, he has seven top-4 finishes. His first win came in his first time out on the Champions tour back in March. Now he’s a winner on home turf.
Johnson shot 63 on Saturday, the low round of the week, and started Sunday with the lead, but briefly gave that up to Richard Green, who playing several holes ahead. But the former Drake standout Johnson made five birdies over an 11-hole stretch, including Nos. 12, 13 and 15 to stake himself to a three-shot lead.
He closed it out in style, making one final birdie on the par-4 18th hole to seal the four-shot win.
