You won't believe the number Odell Beckham Jr. has with the Vikings

Jersey numbers are somewhat of a sacred thing in the NFL. We hear stories all the time of players joining new teams and paying money for a jersey number. When players leave, obviously that number opens up for anyone to grab. One number affiliated with the Minnesota Vikings has become a national meme, and it has been claimed again.

When J.J. McCarthy was with the Minnesota Vikings, “Nine” became something of a laughing stock among fans online. Once he was traded to the New York Giants, we thought nine was gone for good.

However, newly signed wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will be wearing the number nine for the Vikings this year. While it is objectively hilarious that nine is back with Minnesota, Beckham’s reasoning is also quite funny: he chose nine because Justin Jefferson got half his game from him.

Will Beckham ever see the field in Minnesota? Possibly not. However, he could certainly push for a spot given that Jauan Jennings and Tai Felton have done next to nothing for the Vikings this season.
