Yakubu Gowon university appoints substantive registrar and librarian

Welcoming the new leadership team, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, expressed absolute confidence in the administrative and academic capabilities of the appointees to execute the university’s transition plan.

“The wealth of experience that these two appointees bring will further strengthen our commitment to excellence in teaching, learning, research, innovation, and community service,” Professor Fawehinmi noted. “Their appointments come at a critical time in our journey as we continue to reposition Yakubu Gowon University as a globally competitive institution.”

Profiles in Institutional Administration and Information Science

The newly appointed principal officers bring extensive records of public service, research, and institutional capacity building to their respective roles.

Prior to his elevation, Malam Alkasim Musa Umar rose through the ranks within the university registry, supervising key committees including the Core Curriculum Minimum Academic Standards committee and managing the establishment and academic affairs desks.

Similarly, Dr. Rose Lade Mommoh spent over two decades anchoring the institution’s information infrastructure, serving as Postgraduate Coordinator in the Department of Library and Information Science, and leading the collection development and readers’ services branches.

The appointments are expected to provide administrative stability as the institution re-aligns its operations with global benchmarks.
