Wonderkid will replace Alexander Isak, he can't stop scoring

An exciting wonderkid looks destined to replace Alexander Isak.

The Swede may end up justifying his massive transfer fee but at the moment expectations at Liverpool are not at an all-time high.

Compared to this time last year when the whole fanbase was buzzing after landing an absolute superstar and schooling Newcastle by getting Hugo Ekitike as well.

A year later, Isak hasn’t hit the ground running. He may have scored against Nottingham Forest and he will likely score more goals in Andoni Iraola’s system.

However, whether he is the long-term solution to Liverpool’s attack and whether he will ever be on par with players like Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mo Salah remains to be seen.

While defensively the Reds have started the campaign shakily, it’s clear that going forward Liverpool have made improvements.

It’s a more chaotic football but there is at least exciting attacking patterns.There’s less control and more of a gun-ho approach but this will only benefit the attack.

Victor Munoz has added an exciting new dynamism and edge to the Reds’ offensive line. Rio Ngumoha is expected to kick-on as well.

And then there’s Bradley Barcola, who will bring his mercurial talents and who will hope to kick-on straight-away in order to justify his high transfer fee.

The design is all for this system to work in Isak’s favour.

However, long-term someone in the club’s academy may already be gunning for his place and it’s looking inevitable that one day he will replace the Swede.

Last year, when all the focus was on Isak, the Reds also signed another forward.

Will Wright attracted the attention of Arsenal after scoring over 50 goals in a single season for Salford’s academy but it was Liverpool who won the race to sign him.

Wright had a solid first year in Liverpool’s U21 side even if it was disrupted by an injury but it’s this year that the 18-year-old wonderkid is really starting to step-up his game.

So far this season, Wright has scored three goals in two U21 games in the Premier League 2 and he’s also netted against Liefering in a friendly match for the young Reds in Salzburg.

Four goals in three games is pretty good going. Wright looks like an elite forward already and sooner or later given his age, he could easily oust Isak from the starting line-up as the Swede gets older.
