The NBA has decided to take a stand against the increasing betting-related harassment of players.

In recent years, every major sports league in the US has started to receive complaints from their athletes about betting-related harassment from fans.

Of course, an easy solution to this would be to ban the aggregation of betting sites, but the NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, and MLS have decided to take a different route.

The route they have taken is to send a memo to state gaming regulators, sharing their concerns alongside the respective player unions. However, the WNBA wasn’t a part of this memo.

WNBA players also face security risks related to betting problems, and that’s why it was surprising to see the league not being a part of the memo led by the NBA.

As a result, WNBPA executive director Terri Carmichael Jackson issued a scathing statement about the league’s absence.

“It is deeply disappointing that, given the very public and troubling incidents of betting-related harassment experienced by our members over the past several seasons, the NBA determined that WNBA players did not warrant inclusion in a joint position statement intended to address this very issue,” Jackson stated, per Colin Salao on X.

Considering the NBA owns 42% of the W, it’s even more surprising that they didn’t include the WNBA in this joint venture to crack down on betting-related harassment.

Will Jackson’s statement lead to the NBA rethinking their proposal? Only time will tell.
