The continued growth of the WNBA has led to the sport setting another viewership record on ESPN this year.
The 2026 regular season came to a close earlier this week, with the Minnesota Lynx taking first place in the table.
Attention is quickly shifting towards the playoffs, which get underway this weekend, but ahead of that, ESPN have now confirmed that they’ve just delivered their most-watched WNBA regular season.

In a message put out via X/Twitter, they stated: “ESPN delivered its most-watched @WNBA regular season EVER!
“WNBA coverage on ESPN nets averaged 1.4M viewers, up 17% YoY.
“3rd straight year ESPN has delivered its most-viewed WNBA regular season.”
Within the tweet, they also shared that the Indiana Fever vs the Atlanta Dream on August 16 was their most-watched WNBA game ever, averaging 2.6 million viewers.

While the Fever did not top the table this year, they have become one of the most notable names in the sport.
Caitlin Clark is up there as one of the best players in the league, and Sophie Cunningham has also drawn a lot of attention this year.
The Fever now head into the postseason for a first-round series against the Las Vegas Aces.
Should they make it all the way to the final, there is a chance they could face the aforementioned Atlanta Dream, who are on the other side of the bracket.
