Wimbledon singles main draw entry lists are missing big names

The Wimbledon main draw entry lists for men’s and women’s singles has been released.

It is our first look at who could be playing professional tennis’s historic grass court Grand Slam.

Unfortunately, there are multiple pieces of bad news on the draw sheets.

Wimbledon will be missing big stars

1. Victoria Mboko is out

Since injuring her knee at the HSBC Championships, we have not heard what further details on what Victoria Mboko‘s injury is. However, it is severe enough that she has already withdrawn from Wimbledon. Her name is not on the main entry list.

2. Maja Chwalinska is far down the list of alternates

No one knows if Poland’s Maja Chwalinska, who just completed her breakout tournament as the French Open finalist, will get a wildcard. She is the 13th alternate on the list so if she does not get a wilcard, she will have to qualify for the main draw since it is highly unlikely that 13 players will withdraw from Wimbledon to give her lucky loser main draw status.

3. Victoria Azarenka and Danielle Collins are not on the main draw entry list

My quest to understand Victoria Azarenka‘s prolonged WTA absence without explanation continues. She has not played since the 2025 US Open. Azarenka has said little so we do not know if she quietly retired.

Danielle Collins, who started the year injured and working for Tennis Channel, said she would be back later in the season. She is not on the Wimbledon main draw entry list thus missing three Grand Slams this year.

4. Retiring Dan Evans will get wildcard which could let Matteo Berrettini out in the cold

Matteo Berrettini is the second alternate. His injury that caused him to retire from the French Open was not serious, and he is healthy and able to play. Will he?

We do not know if he will get a wildcard. The only wildcard we can bet on is for Dan Evans. Evans, the British player who partnered with Andy Murray at the 2024 Paris Olympics, announced he is retiring after Wimbledon. The 36-year-old former World No. 21 now ranked 217th is a lock for one of the coveted wild cards. Two-time Wimbledon quarterfinalist Stan Wawrinka is also retiring this year. He is 14th on the alternate list. His wildcard possibilities are still up in the air and could interfere with Berrettini getting one.

Main draw entry lists for men’s and women’s doubles come out on June 17. Wild card announcements are expected sometime during the week of June 15. Wimbledon main draw play begins on June 29.
