William Sawalich falls below Chase cut-line in O'Reilly at Sonoma

William Sawalich is now below the Chase bubble. With five races left in the 2026 NASCAR O’Reilly Series regular season, Sawalich sits 13th in the standings with a 20-point deficit to his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate, Taylor Gray. This comes after a strong day by Brent Crews at Sonoma Raceway.

Crews was able to finish in third place with the most points, and he entered just below Sawalich in the standings. Even with Gray running out of gas on the final lap, Sawalich is still 20 points below the Chase bubble. Now, the driver of the No. 18 car has to execute moving forward.

If Sawalich has one mistake, he could lose even more ground to the Chase bubble. The Joe Gibbs Racing competitor has to find speed over his teammates in the coming weeks. If not, Sawalich could miss the Chase with Crews and Gray fighting for an O’Reilly Series championship this fall.
