Will Stein expects Terhyon Nichols back for Texas A&M game

Kentucky Football is wasting little time in putting the loss to Alabama behind them, with a game at No. 9 Texas A&M. This will be Will Stein’s first road game as a head coach, and it’s the epitome of a measuring-stick game for the Cats against a top-10 Aggies team.

Some good news going into this game is that Stein expects cornerback Terhyon Nichols back in action against the Aggies.

Nichols didn’t play against Alabama last Saturday after being a late scratch, but he is expected to be out there when the Cats play their first road game of the season.

“He practiced all week, and then really late in the process, Friday night, Saturday morning, it was a little bit like he can go, but… so we felt like it was best to not put him out there in those situations,” Stein said at his Tuesday press conference. “He went every single rep today.”

Nichols has not played yet this season. In his first two seasons with Kentucky, the Cincinnati native has 10 pass breakups, 28 tackles, and one tackle for loss.

A 4-star recruit out of Withrow High School in the Class of 2024, Nichols was the No. 3 prospect in Ohio per On3, and he was All-Ohio First Team Defense by the Ohio Prep Sports Writers Association and the Ohio High School Athletic Association as a Senior, leading Withrow to the State Semifinals.

If Kentucky is to make any real noise in Year 1 under Stein, Nichols will have to play a major part in making it a reality.
