High school football Week 8 scoreboard for Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County

Playoffs are finally here for the Section 1 schools in Dutchess County with both games going down to the wire in thrillers. Arlington barely survived against a hungry John Jay team and Ketcham pulled off a stunning upset over New Rochelle to move on into the Class AA semifinals.

For Section 9, it was the end of the regular season with a good mix of competitive contests and final statements before the postseason kicks off next week.

Here’s the roundup of local high school football scores in Dutchess County and the surrounding areas for Week 8.

Thursday, Oct. 29

Burke Catholic 41, Dover 6

Dover finishes the regular season with a 5-3 record.

Friday, Oct. 30

Arlington 14, John Jay 7 (story)

No. 1 seed Arlington survives Section 1 Class AA quarterfinals. Troy Mondelli and Mikey Fortuna with rushing touchdowns for the Admirals. Boston Smith recorded a rushing touchdown for John Jay. Patriots end season at 2-7.

Ketcham 32, New Rochelle 27

No. 6 seed Ketcham overcomes a 20-6 halftime deficit to take down No. 3 New Rochelle on the road in the Section 1 Class AA quarterfinals. Kaleb Mako recorded five touchdowns for the Storm.

Washingtonville 38, FDR 0

FDR finishes the regular season at 2-6.

Beacon 51, Liberty 0

Beacon enters Section 9 Class B playoffs with an 8-1 record.

Highland 36, Spackenkill 29

Highland enters Section 9 Class C playoffs with a 7-2 record and the No. 1 seed. Spackenkill finishes regular season with a 3-5 record.

Red Hook 47, Cohoes 14

Red Hook finished regular season with 4-5 record.

Lourdes 44, Wallkill 24

Lourdes finishes regular season at 7-2 and heads to Section 9 Class A playoffs.
