Fans of Elsbeth have become accustomed to watching Carrie Preston’s unconventional attorney turn seemingly straightforward murder investigations into deeply interesting cases. With her eccentric personality and sharp instincts, Elsbeth Tascioni has become one of television’s most entertaining crime-solving characters. However, viewers tuning in to CBS on Thursday, October 29, may be surprised to discover that there is no new episode of the hit crime dramedy on the schedule tonight. Though this has happened before, it’s natural for fans to wonder whether the crime drama has been canceled.
Fortunately, the temporary break doesn’t meanElsbeth season 4 is coming to an end. CBS is adjusting its 2026 fall schedule Thursday-night programming for Halloween, so fans will have to wait a little longer for the next chapter in Elsbeth’s latest investigations. The good news is that the series is expected to return to its regular broadcast schedule following its Halloween hiatus. The network also has plenty of other TV shows airing on Thursday night to keep audiences thoroughly entertained as they wait for the new Elsbeth episode to air.
Like all of Elsbeth‘s previous installments, the upcoming episode promises another intriguing case for the titular character to solve. With Elsbeth season 4, episode 3 ending on a cliffhanger about the titular character’s personal life, the rest of the season has a lot to cover.

Elsbeth season 4 premiered on October 8, 2026. Since then, CBS has aired weekly episodes of the crime drama in its 9 PM ET slot, before Eternally Yours at 8 PM and Cupertino at 10 PM. Unfortunately, CBS will not air Elsbeth season 4, episode 4today, October 29, 2026. This isn’t the first time CBS has skipped a new episode of the beloved crime drama. Occasionally, sporting events like March Madness interrupt the show’s Thursday time slot, or another series takes over.
Instead, CBS will air a special Halloween episode of Ghosts, with the one-hour episode airing from 9 PM to 10 PM. Though the new Ghosts release is a special episode, it will also tie into what happened at the end of the show’s season 5 finale. Ghosts Halloween 6 is the first of two specials to be released before season 6 officially premieres. A two-part Christmas special is set to debut on December 10, 2026.

The first three episodes of Elsbeth season 4 have given audiences quite a lot of entertaining material, and the fourth entry will be no different. Set to air on November 5, 2026, the newest installment will pick up right after the events of episode 3. “A Bad Lie” features the titular protagonist and an insurance investigator teaming up to solve the murder of a country club president following his fatal accident.
On the personal side, Lydia and Elsbeth will meet Teddy’s future mother-in-law and father-in-law for the first time. This is a particularly significant development, given that mother and daughter didn’t exactly end on good terms at the end of episode 3. It will be interesting to see whether the two put their differences aside for Teddy’s sake or whether the simmering tension between them blows up.
