He made his biggest splash so far April 12: Jake Nawrot, one of the nation’s most highly touted 2027 quarterbacks, picked UK over his other three finalists (Iowa, Kansas State and Oregon). Per the 247Sports Composite rankings, Nawrot is the No. 5 QB in the 2027 cycle.
Nawrot isn’t the only four-star that Stein and his staff have been able to land. Other blue-chip commits include offensive linemen Ian Walker and Dominic Black, defensive linemen Elijah Brown and Malachi Brown, linebacker Sean Fox, safety Tristen Hughes and cornerback Miles Brown.
Kentucky was also able to flip a unique commit — Tyler Fryman. The four-star wide receiver was originally committed to play baseball at Louisville, but decommitted June 23 and decided to commit to Will Stein and the Wildcats on June 26.
Kentucky held a commitment from four-star wideout Iveon Lewis when he pledged on May 9. Lewis has since flipped his commitment, deciding to switch to South Carolina.
Along with Nawrot and the other four-star commitments, Kentucky has 16 others — as of June 28 — in the 2027 class: running backs Kelsey Gerald and Mason Ball, tight ends Conrad Hart and Trae Proctor, offensive linemen Matthias Burrell, Brady Hull and Reed Gerken, wide receiver Austin Coles, linebackers Ty Ashley, Drew Williams and Antwoine Higgins, defensive lineman Griff Galloway, edge Jaylen Mercer, and defensive backs Marquis Bryant, Larron Westmoreland and Miguel Wilson. Four members (Ashley, Hart, Hull and Westmoreland) of the group are in-state recruits, which tracks with Stein’s vision for the program — he wants to build from within, leaning on the Bluegrass State.
Kentucky football saw its first decommitment June 2. Bryian Duncan Jr. was one of three running backs in this 2027 recruiting class. Duncan visited West Virginia on May 29 and decided to flip his commitment after the weekend was over to play for the Mountaineers. He had been verbally committed to Kentucky since March 30.
Kentucky’s class is No. 21 nationally in the 247Sports Composite rankings, as of June 28. The haul sits ninth in the 16-team SEC.

The Fort Mitchell native chose to play football at Kentucky over Notre Dame, Louisville and Cincinnati.
