Maryland football’s 20-17 defeat to Illinois underscored that the program’s postseason outlook is not going to be defined by the results on the field.
The Terps have four more weeks to figure out who will succeed Mike Locksley as the head coach of the program. Current interim Aazaar Abdul-Rahim remains in the mix for the permanent job, but it seems almost certain that athletic director Jim Smith will look outside the organization for the answer.
Terps fans who responded to our Testudo Times Reacts survey largely favored current Wake Forest head coach Jake Dickert, who signed a long-term contract at the school in December 2025 and has led the Deacons to a 7-1 start to the season.
The current favorite on sports betting site Kalshi, Dan Mullen, was the least attractive option of the bunch, pulling in just 7% of the vote.

Who do you think should be the next person to take charge of the Terps? This is your open space to discuss all things related to the Maryland coaching search. Keep things respectful as always.
