What to know about Malique Lewis, the Bucks' second-round draft pick via Wizards

The Milwaukee Bucks didn’t have a second round NBA draft pick when night two of the event began, but at the end of the evening, the Bucks were part of a three-team trade that gave them the rights to the final choice of the event.

Obtaining the rights to the 60th pick after a deal with both Orlando and Washington, the Bucks received the draft rights of Malique Lewis, a 6-8 small forward who has played professionally in Australia last season.

Lewis joins two other new players on the roster that were taken in the first round, guard Brayden Burries and forward Nate Ament. Ament was obtained with the No. 13 pick that was part of trade that will send Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat.

And though we’ll certainly hold off on any comparisons, Bucks fans should know that according to the South East Melbourne Phoenix website, Lewis’ nickname is “Baby Giannis.”

Here’s a few things to know about Lewis:

Lewis is 21 years old. He has played in the NBA G-League in 2024 and most recently for the for the South East Melbourne Phoenix in Austrailia.

Lewis is 6 feet, 8 inches tall with a 7-1 wingspan.

He is from Trinidad and Tobago. Though he didn’t play basketball until his early teens, he moved to Spain to play for  Fuenlabrada in the Liga ACB when he was 16.

If he makes the team, Lewis is projected as a “3-and-D” small forward. Despite an slow shooting release, he made about 38% of his 3-point attempts last season for the Phoenix

Lewis averaged 8.3 points and 5.8 rebounds a game in the G-League with Mexico City in 2023-24. His second season in Australia he averaged In 2025-26, he averaged 7.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.1 steals in about 21 minutes a game. He was al also an above-average defender.
