The What Ohio State's Julian Sayin saidOhio State football team suffered an epic defeat on Saturday night to Texas. Ohio State blew a 20-point fourth quarter lead, to bow 24-23 to the Longhorns. Following the game, Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayinwas brutally honest.

“We didn’t execute the way we can, the way we need to in the fourth quarter there,” Sayin said, per Cleveland.com. “It starts with me.”

Sayin said he will be reflecting on this loss for awhile. He finished the night with 278 passing yards, a touchdown pass and an interception.

“You think about the plays, the what ifs, what if I hit them, and things like that. You have to think about those,” Sayin added.

Ohio State had a 23-3 lead to open the final quarter of the contest. The Buckeyes then made mistakes, allowing Texas quarterback Arch Manning to scramble and extend drives. Ohio State also wasn’t able to connect in the fourth quarter with star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith.

It was sweet revenge for Texas, who had lost to the Buckeyes in the College Football Playoff during the 2024 season. Then in 2025, Ohio State defeated Texas again in Columbus.

“I did not want to come in here after a loss at home to Ohio State again,” Manning said, per On3. “I’m so glad we won.”

The win was one of the greatest in Texas football program history.

“Texas’ comeback marked the first time since 2004 that a top-ranked team has lost a 20-point fourth-quarter lead, and it was the biggest comeback of (Steve) Sarkisian’s coaching career,” ESPN reported.

It was certainly a tough loss for Ohio State, who is looking to make the College Football Playoff for the third consecutive season. The Buckeyes are now 1-1 on the campaign.

Sayin’s Ohio State team next plays Kent State on Saturday.
