The Los Angeles Rams are reeling from a series of injuries to star players, and on Monday, head coach Sean McVay offered a cryptic update on some of their statuses.

Which Rams players could be close to returning after injury?

Superstar pass rusher Myles Garrett, who was clearly hampered by a knee injury during his debut with the Rams, and tight end Terrance Ferguson, who’s been having a breakout season before suffering a high ankle sprain, are now eligible to come off of injured reserve and rejoin the team.

When asked if Ferguson and Garrett are ready to come back, though, McVay didn’t have a clear answer.

“Sean McVay said he hasn’t spoken to Rams SVP of Sports Medicine and Performance Reggie Scott yet, so he doesn’t know yet whether or not they will open the practice windows for Myles Garrett or Terrance Ferguson this week,” reports Stu Jackson, senior staff writer for the team.

ESPN’s NFL insider Ian Rapoport had reported recently that Garrett is expected to return to practice this week, but it sounds like that could mean his activation would come later this week — if it’s this week at all.

What’s at stake for the Rams?

The Rams may have been a popular Super Bowl pick before the season started, but they’re currently 3-4 and seeking to salvage their shot at a title.

Bringing Garrrett and Ferguson back would certainly help the Rams, though this week, they’re facing the 0-6 Chargers, so they’re likely OK to give their stars another week to get back in shape.

Their schedule is actually relatively soft for a decent stretch, with the 1-4-1 Washington Commanders coming up on Nov. 8 and the 2-5 Arizona Cardinals on Nov. 15.

That said, the Cardinals gave the Rams one of their losses earlier this season, and after that, the Rams face the Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.

So while Garrett and Ferguson may not be a necessity this week, they’ll certainly be needed back in action a few weeks from now, making their recovery all the more important.

Do you think the Rams will get healthier ahead of that tough stretch in November and December?
