The Patriots had the defending Super Bowl champions, the Seahawks, on the ropes last week in Seattle until quarterback Drake Maye imploded in the fourth quarter, throwing three straight interceptions in the final drives. … Wide receiver AJ Brown, the Pats’ most important acquisition in the offseason, injured his ankle during the game and was placed on injured reserve. He will have to miss at least four games. … Kicker Andy Borregales’ 50-yard field goal last week was the fifth successful 50-yard-plus field goal in five attempts. … The Patriots will host the Steelers for the second straight season at Gillette Stadium in the month of September. The Steelers won last season’s matchup, 21-14, in a game in which the Pats had five turnovers. … The Steelers are tied with the Patriots for the most Super Bowl victories in NFL history with six and are one of a handful of teams with an overall winning record against the Pats. … The Steelers are now coached by Mike McCarthy with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback — the tandem who helped the Packers win Super Bowl XLV. Ironically, it was the Steelers that the Packers defeated in that game.

Aaron Rodgers began his final NFL season by throwing for 221 yards and a score and linebacker T.J. Watt returned an interception for a touchdown to lead Pittsburgh to a 20-13 victory over the visiting Atlanta Falcons on Sept. 13. Watt also had three tackles for loss and two sacks for the Steelers (1-0), who won their third straight season opener. Cooper Rush completed 12 of 22 passes for 143 yards and a touchdown while throwing two interceptions for the Falcons (0-1). Bijan Robinson rushed for 83 yards and had eight catches for 90 yards and a score.
