The Florida State Seminoles are looking to make it two in a row against the No. 10 Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa tomorrow, but it’s looking to be a brutally hot game.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham is predicting dangerous heat for central Alabama, with “highs in the mid-to-upper 90s, potentially nearing 100 for some areas,” with heat index values exceeding 100.
“The primary concern will be the heat, there is a heat advisory in effect for Saturday that includes Tuscaloosa. We’re forecasting a high of 100, and it feel as much as five degrees higher than that due to the humidity.” NWS Tallahassee Meteorologist Gerald Satterwhite told me. “There is also the risk of spotty showers and thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon, popping up around 1:00 and by mid-to-late afternoon is when we’ll reach peak coverage. If it comes within 8-10 miles of the stadium, it could affect the game from a lightning perspective.”
The University of Alabama is also taking some heat measures, with three cooling stations and two medical unit trailers in preparation for the game.
