WAEC debunks fake list of 50 schools over withheld 2026 WASSCE results

In its response, WAEC shared a copy of the forged document prominently marked with a red “FAKE” stamp to alert members of the public.

The clarification came shortly after the council announced the release of the 2026 WASSCE results for school candidates.

While releasing the results, WAEC disclosed that it withheld the results of 167,486 candidates, representing 8.59 per cent of the 1,950,726 candidates who sat for the examination, over allegations of examination malpractice.

The council explained that the affected results were withheld pending investigations into various forms of malpractice, including the use of mobile phones during examinations despite an existing ban and organised cheating in some examination centres.

WAEC also revealed that a number of supervisors and invigilators accused of facilitating examination malpractice had been apprehended and would face disciplinary measures through the appropriate state ministries of education.
