Voting open now for June 3-8 South Bend Tribune Athlete of the Week poll

Voting is now open for the June 3-8 South Bend Tribune Athlete of the Week poll, with no voting limitations until the poll closes Friday, June 12 at 11:59 p.m. ET. The next poll will include nominees from Tuesday, June 9 through Saturday, June 13 and will be published Monday, June 15.

Below is a list of 33 nominees from 20 South Bend Tribune coverage area schools and across four different sports. The nominees are listed alphabetically first by school, then by gender, then by first name.

The senior IU Indy commit finished seventh in the 300-meter hurdles with a 38.27-second finish at the IHSAA state finals Saturday, June 6.

The senior shot an 83 at the Northridge-hosted IHSAA sectional Friday, June 5, the third best score for an individual not on a top three team. He advances to the Warsaw regional.

The senior Purdue Fort Wayne commit finished sixth in the discus with a 175-09 foot distance at the IHSAA state finals Saturday, June 6.

The sophomore shot a 76 at the South Bend Riley-hosted IHSAA sectional Friday, June 5, the fifth best individual score and helping the Lions advance to the Lake Central regional with a second place finish at 306.

The senior finished second in the 200-meter dash with a school record 21.42-second finish at the IHSAA state finals Saturday, June 6.

The senior finished fifth in the 100-meter dash with a 10.73-second finish at the IHSAA state finals Saturday, June 6.

The senior shot a Falcons-best 81 at the Northridge-hosted IHSAA sectional Friday, June 5, helping lead Fairfield to a third place finish at 340 and advance to the Warsaw regional.

The junior tied for eighth in the high jump at 5-05 feet at the IHSAA state finals Friday, June 5.

The junior finished third in the 100-meter dash with a 12.15-second finish at the IHSAA state finals Friday, June 5.

The freshman was tied for the top individual score from a team not in the top three in IHSAA sectional action Thursday, June 4, at La Porte. He advances to the Lake Central regional with an 81.

The senior shot an 81 at the Northridge-hosted IHSAA sectional Friday, June 5, the second best score for an individual not on a top three team. He advances to the Warsaw regional.

The sophomore finished third in the 200-meter dash with a 24.79-second finish and helped the RedHawks finish second in the 4×400-meter relay with a 3:51.16 finish at the IHSAA state finals Friday, June 5.

The senior was crowned individual sectional champion Thursday, June 4 with a 75, helping lead La Porte to a team runner-up finish at 334.

The sophomore shot a 78 at Thursday’s, June 4 IHSAA sectional, placing second individually and helping the Blazers finish in third at 345.

The senior advanced to the Lake Central regional with the third-best individual score on a team outside of the top three at Thursday’s, June 4 IHSAA sectional at La Porte. Green shot an 84.

The junior became the Cavemen’s first boys track and field IHSAA state champion since 2009 by winning the long jump at 24-06 feet Saturday, June 6. He was just 1.75 inch off of the state record distance.

The senior advanced to the Lake Central regional with the second-best individual score on a team outside of the top three teams at Friday’s, June 5 IHSAA sectional at South Bend Riley. Bishop shot a 76.

The junior advanced to the Lake Central regional tied for the best individual score on a team outside of the top three at Thursday’s, June 4 IHSAA sectional at La Porte. Krassow shot an 81.

The sophomore shot a 75, good for the second best individual score at the Raiders’ own IHSAA sectional Friday, June 5, helping Northridge win the sectional and advance to the Warsaw regional with a 329.

The senior Harvard commit finished fourth in the 800-meter run with a 1:51.50-finish at the IHSAA state finals Saturday, June 6.

The senior Grand Valley State commit finished eighth in the 400-meter dash with a 48.64-second finish at the IHSAA state finals Saturday, June 6.

The sophomore pitched six and 1/3 innings in the Panthers’ IHSAA 3A regional championship win vs. Highland Saturday, June 6, striking out six batters, walking six and allowing just three hits. At the plate, Miller went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

The senior shot an 80 at the Northridge-hosted IHSAA sectional Friday, June 5, good for the third-best individual score and the best individual score of anyone not on a top three team. The Panthers’ standout advances to the Warsaw regional.

The junior finished third in the shot put with a 60-01 foot distance at the IHSAA state finals Saturday, June 6.

The sophomore went 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBIs, two walks and a double in the Kingsmen’s IHSAA 4A regional championship win vs. Valparaiso Saturday, June 6. Biernacki also pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout.

The senior shot a 74, good for the third best individual score, at the South Bend Riley-hosted IHSAA sectional Friday, June 5, which was the best individual score from anyone not on a top three team. The Kingsmen’s standout advances to the Lake Central regional.

The senior shot a 72 at the Warsaw-hosted IHSAA sectional Monday, June 8, the second-best individual score, helping lead the Pilgrims to a second place finish at 309 and advance to the Warsaw regional.

The sophomore finished in fourth in the 100-meter dash with a 12.20-second finish and second in the 200-meter dash with a 24.46-second finish at the IHSAA state finals Friday, June 5.

The senior shot a 73, good for the top individual score, at the South Bend Riley-hosted IHSAA sectional Friday, June 5, helping lead the Huskies to a first place finish at 303 and advance to the Lake Central regional.

The junior finished eighth in the 300-meter hurdles with a 38.27-second finish at the IHSAA state finals Saturday, June 6.

The junior finished fourth in the long jump with a 19-01.5 distance at the IHSAA state finals Friday, June 5.

The senior finished third in both the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles with 14.11-second and 43.19-second finish, respectively, at the IHSAA state finals Friday, June 5.

The freshman shot a 74, the fourth best individual score, at the South Bend Riley-hosted IHSAA sectional Friday, June 5, helping lead the Trojans to a third place finish at 312 and advance to the Lake Central regional.
