Who was the top high school girls athlete in the Fort Collins area this school year?

We’re into the quarterfinal round for the Blue Federal Credit Union 2025-26 top Fort Collins-area girls athlete bracket following an enthusiastic first round of voting.

Here are the first-round voting results:

This quarterfinal round of voting will run through June 11 (ending at 11:59 p.m.), and the top vote-getters in each matchup will move on to the semifinals starting June 12.

• Smith: Swept Class 5A 100-, 200-meter dash titles with new personal-record times as Colorado’s fastest sprinter this season. Also took fourth in 5A long jump. Was one of PSD flag football’s top receivers during a playoff run in the program’s first season, tallying 484 total yards and six touchdowns.

• McGinnis: Arguably the top pitcher in Colorado last season, leading Wizards to second straight 4A runner-up finish. First team all-state pick, going 10-1 with 0.66 ERA, 113 Ks in 95 innings pitched while also batting .297 with three HRs and 13 RBIs in limited plate appearances.

• Monajjem: The Eagles senior swim star won a state title for third consecutive season, this time in the 200-yard freestyle. Also finished runner-up in 100 backstroke and was named 3A Swimmer of the Year. Led Eagles relay units to a pair of top-five finishes at state.

Thomas: Two-sport all-conference standout for Lobos, leading the soccer and basketball teams in scoring as a senior. Scored 13 goals with three assists on pitch for the playoff soccer squad. Averaged 11.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and three assists per game in winter basketball season.

Monajjem: The Eagles senior swim star won a state title for third consecutive season, this time in the 200-yard freestyle. Also finished runner-up in 100 backstroke and was named 3A Swimmer of the Year. Led Eagles relay units to a pair of top-five finishes at state.

• Bennett: The Lobos senior got a special sendoff season. Bennett won the 5A discus state title and took runner-up in the shot put with a new personal-best throw. Won six events and placed second 10 times combined across discus and shot put events as a 5A first team all-state performer.

• Morgan: Class 5A Player of the Year, leading the SaberCats to second straight state soccer title. Midfielder scored overtime game-winning goals in Fossil’s semifinal (Castle View) and championship (Mountain Vista) overtime wins. Scored seven goals with nine assists, both tied for second on Fossil’s title squad.
