After blowing a 29-point lead in Game 4, it is normal for people to assume that the San Antonio Spurs‘ confidence is shot. It is one of the most discouraging results in recent history, but it seems the Spurs are remaining level-headed.

Victor Wembanyama has faced the media head-on, cementing that he is confident in his team. However, he does want to reiterate that they are not being overconfident because they know the New York Knicks are a formidable opponent.

Unfortunately for Wemby, this quote has been misconstrued, as most people are only seeing the first sentence. Some people are bringing up Jalen Brunson’s mindset of taking it one game at a time, but Wemby was essentially saying the same thing.

Wembanyama has no choice but to prove his statements on the court. He must live up to expectations because that comes with the superstar territory. It will be disappointing if he does lose in the Finals, especially with how people have been hyping him up.
