The United States on Thursday sanctioned UK-based senior Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood official Mahmoud al-Abyari, along with 3 individuals and 3 entities for aiding terrorist activities.

Those listed are accused of providing material support to Hamas. The Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas use front organizations to move funds globally, the State Department noted.

The U.S. said its action exposes the “charitable facades” and secret networks, vowing to keep dismantling the financial system that sustains MB and Hamas as outlined in the Counterterrorism Strategy.

Washington has also sanctioned over 50 Mexican individuals and entities linked to Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación, described as one of the most violent and dangerous narco-terrorist groups.

The new measure seeks to disrupt the cartel’s operations across Mexican states and targets Juan Carlos González, a dual U.S.-Mexican national and the new leader of CJNG.

González, a.k.a. “Pelón,” succeeded Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, a.k.a. “El Mencho,” who was killed in February this year during a military operation in Mexico.

The Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs has a bounty of $5 million for information leading to González’s arrest and/or conviction.

“Pelón’s days of operating with impunity are numbered; he will be brought to justice,” the Trump Administration declared in a statement on Thursday.

In 2025, the U.S. designated the CJNG as a Foreign Terrorist Organization and Specially Designated Global Terrorist for fentanyl distribution, victims’ extortion, fraud, and human trafficking.
