University of Abuja Inducts 258 New Teachers Into Teaching Profession

The University of Abuja has inducted 258 Bachelor of Education graduates into the teaching profession following their successful licensing by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).

The induction, which marked the 10th ceremony for the university’s Bachelor of Education programme, formally admitted the graduates into Nigeria’s teaching workforce.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, commended the TRCN for its commitment to strengthening the teaching profession through effective regulation and quality assurance.

Addressing the newly inducted teachers, Fawehinmi urged them to discharge their responsibilities with humility and dedication.

“Never underestimate the influence you have on the lives of those you teach and other members of society,” the Vice-Chancellor advised.

The Registrar of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, Dr. Ronke Soyombo, who was represented by Dr. Bimbo Okunola, administered the teachers’ oath and charged the inductees to embrace lifelong learning while upholding the ethics and values of the teaching profession.

Delivering the induction lecture, Professor Jonathan Ikerionwu emphasised the need for purposeful teaching, professionalism, ethical conduct, and the pursuit of excellence in the 21st-century classroom.

The ceremony underscored the university’s commitment to producing professionally qualified educators equipped to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s education sector.
