UCL: Mikel Arteta seen raging at three Arsenal stars during 1-0 win over Napoli

Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, was seen raging at three of his players during their Champions League victory against Napoli on Wednesday night.

The Gunners achieved a perfect record in their European league phase last season, winning all eight matches, and they have kicked off this season’s campaign impressively by defeating Napoli 1-0 in Italy.

Arsenal dominated the match, yet their inability to convert chances seemed likely to cost them the three points until the in-form Martin Odegaard scored a decisive goal in the 75th minute.

Although Arteta returned to north London in high spirits, he was left ‘extremely angry’ with three of his players for not effectively closing out the game.

Arsenal squandered the chance to score a second goal late in the match, and TNT Sports co-commentator Lucy Ward observed Arteta vocally urging Kai Havertz, Noni Madueke and Christos Tzolis to track back as Napoli launched a counterattack.

“Mikel Arteta was absolutely furious on the sidelines that Havertz, Madueke and Tzolis weren’t recovering after that attack,” she said.

“It was quite notable. As the Arsenal attack concluded, those three seemed to stroll back, and Mikel Arteta sprinted down the sidelines, shouting at them to get back into position.”

Arsenal, who reached the Champions League final last season while also securing the Premier League title, have now won all five of their opening matches in the 2026-27 season.
