Patrick Mahomes has been taking part in pre-season training with the Kansas City Chiefs this summer after suffering an ACL injury back in the 2025/26 campaign.
The Chiefs, who lost Mahomes after week 15, failed to make the play-offs for the first time in a decade, ending the regular season with a 6-11 record.
But the QB is on his way back to fitness and has been among those in training ahead of the first set of games getting underway in the coming weeks.
Mahomes gave an injury update on his knee recently, while former player Tyrann Mathieu has also shared what he’s seen from his ex-teammate during the Chiefs’ training camp.

Tyrann Mathieu says Kansas City Chiefs are ‘getting a really motivated Patrick Mahomes’
Mathieu played with Mahomes from 2019 to 2021 before leaving for the New Orleans Saints.
But Tyrann has been back with the Chiefs to watch them train recently and has shared his thoughts on Mahomes.
When doing so, he suggested that ‘they’re getting a really motivated Patrick Mahomes’ while also mentioning that he is ‘really healthy’.
Mathieu stated: “He’s bouncing around, he’s hopping around talking trash, he’s the same old Patrick.
“I think he’s really healthy. I think they’re getting a really motivated Patrick Mahomes. I don’t think he’s been motivated since 2018 when Brady knocked him out of the playoffs.”
The Chiefs are due to kick off their pre-season schedule on August 15 against the Los Angeles Rams.
Their proper season then begins against the Denver Broncos on September 10.
