Delta commissioner, others arrested over death of Deputy Director

Delta State Police Command has arrested the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Kingsley Ashibogwu, and three others over the death of Unity Ekpevbughe Adeda, a Deputy Director in the ministry.

Ashibogwu was arrested alongside three others as police expanded the investigation into the incident leading to the Director’s death.

The Command’s spokesman, Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, noting that five suspects are now in custody over the matter. 

As of the time of filing this report, the police have yet to disclose the identities of the three other suspects arrested alongside the commissioner.

The command has declared two more persons wanted for questioning over the case.

They are Mrs Clementine Ufuoma, Director of Basic and Secondary Education, and Clement Apia, driver to the Commissioner for Secondary Education.

“The Delta State Police Command, in continuation of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Mr Unity Ekpevbughe Adeda, Deputy Director in the Delta State Ministry of Secondary Education, has taken into custody the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Dr Kingsley Ashibogwu, alongside three other suspects in connection with the case.

“This brings the number of persons currently in Police custody in connection with the investigation to five,” the statement said.
