· · 1 min read

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have repelled a terrorist attack along the Wasagu–Ayu Road in Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, forcing the assailants to flee and abandon two motorcycles.
The development was contained in a post shared on Saturday by crisis reporter in the North-West region, Bakatsine, via his X handle.

According to Bakatsine, the troops responded swiftly on Friday afternoon after receiving credible intelligence that suspected terrorists had blocked the Wasagu–Ayu Road.

The troops reportedly engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle, compelling them to retreat from the area and abandon two motorcycles while escaping.

Security sources said the troops pursued the fleeing terrorists along their escape route in a bid to neutralise the attackers or prevent them from regrouping. However, no further contact was established during the pursuit.

The operation is part of ongoing military efforts under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to deny terrorists freedom of movement and improve security across vulnerable communities in Kebbi State and the wider North-West region.

Military authorities have continued to intensify intelligence-led operations targeting terrorist activities, with troops maintaining pressure on criminal elements operating across the region.
