Troops disrupt terrorists' activities in Lake Chad, neutralise scores of terrorists

The Joint Task Force (North-East), Operation OPHK, Task Force, following intelligence- led information, has neutralised scores of terrorists in Lake Chad region.

Captain Mohammed Goni, acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North-East) Operation HADIN KAI Maiduguri, in a statement said on 26 October 2026, troops conducted engagements against suspected terrorist elements at separate locations in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State and neutralised 28 terrorists while six others reportedly sustained injuries.

In further operations on 28 October 2026, the Maritime Component, Naval Base Lake Chad deployed in Baga, conducted offensive actions against terrorists’ targets within the Lake Chad area, and neutralised eight terrorists, while 10 others reportedly sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Also, an air interdiction mission successfully disrupted a suspected terrorist improvised explosive device-laying operation, neutralizing eight operatives and destroying their vehicle, motorcycles and IED materials.

“The operation prevented the terrorist team from proceeding with its planned activity,” it said.

The Theatre Command urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies in support of ongoing efforts to restore lasting peace and security across the theatre.
