Transfer: Turkish club interested in Awoniyi

Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi has been linked with a move to Turkish Super Lig club, Caykur Rizespor.

The Black Sea are looking to strengthen their attack ahead of the new season, and have identified  Awoniyi as a potential target.

The 29-year-old struggled for regular playing time at Premier League club Nottingham Forest last season due to his persistent injuries.

Awoniyi was not registered by Forest for the UEFA Europa League, and was only included in the club’s Premier League squad after his compatriot Ola Aina picked up an injury which sidelined him for the majority of the first half of the season.

The former Union Berlin forward scored four times, and provided one assist in 17 league appearances for the Tricky Trees during the 2025/26 season.

With Igor Jesus and Chris Wood ahead of him in the pecking order, he could be open to a move away from the City Ground.

Awoniyi has featured regularly for Forest in pre-season season games  but it remain to be seen if he has done enough to impress new manager Oliver Gleaner.
