Jerry Jones hints that Cowboys have interest in Steelers CB Joey Porter Jr.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones confirmed the team is exploring potential roster additions, and Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr. appears to be among the names connected to the Cowboys.

Speaking on 105.3 The Fan, Jones said Dallas currently has “conversations going on” regarding ways to upgrade its roster. When Porter’s name was brought up during the appearance, Jones declined to specifically address the Steelers cornerback, citing NFL tampering rules.

The decision not to discuss Porter directly does not necessarily confirm that the Cowboys have made an offer or are actively negotiating for him, but his name has emerged in connection with Dallas as the team evaluates options.

Dallas has reason to explore additions to its secondary. The Cowboys have dealt with several injuries in the defensive backfield, including P.J. Locke being placed on injured reserve and Jalen Thompson dealing with a hamstring injury. Those absences have reduced the team’s depth and forced Dallas to make roster moves, including elevating players from its practice squad.

Porter remains under his rookie contract and has dealt with a contract situation and reported back injury that has limited his availability, adding another layer to any potential trade discussion.

For now, Jones’ comments stop short of confirming Dallas’ interest in Porter. But with the Cowboys actively exploring ways to improve their roster and Porter’s name circulating in trade discussions, the Steelers cornerback is a player worth monitoring as the situation develops.
