Trabzonspor has confirmed Mohamed Salah as its new signing after the Egyptian completed his medical in Istanbul. The former Liverpool forward arrived in Trabzon on Wednesday evening and will be presented to supporters at Papara Park on Thursday.
The Turkish club confirmed that Salah passed his medical at Acıbadem Maslak Hospital before referring to him as its new transfer. A public signing ceremony is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. local time.
The move developed quickly following a week of conflicting reports. Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan initially denied that an agreement had been reached, but the club opened negotiations soon afterward and announced that Salah would travel to Turkey.
Salah arrived in Istanbul on Wednesday, completed his medical and then continued to Trabzon, where thousands of supporters welcomed him at the airport. The club has since published his first comments as a Trabzonspor player.
The 34-year-old joins on a free transfer after ending his nine-year stay at Liverpool. He had another season remaining on the contract signed in April 2025, but Liverpool agreed to release him early following the conclusion of the 2025/26 campaign.
Salah leaves Anfield as one of the greatest players in Liverpool’s history. He scored 257 goals and provided 120 assists in 442 appearances, with only Ian Rush and Roger Hunt scoring more goals for the club. His collection of trophies includes two Premier League titles, the Champions League, FA Cup, two League Cups, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup.
Trabzonspor has secured one of the most decorated players ever to move to the Turkish Super Lig. Salah will bring experience from England, Italy and Switzerland, along with a scoring record that made him Liverpool’s leading Premier League goalscorer.
