It’s been a rough start to life in North London for Lucas Bergvall for a few reasons, one of which is his inconsistent playing time under the various managers at Tottenham Hotspur, with his appearances becoming shorter and rarer under Roberto De Zerbi. But this doesn’t tell the whole story, as the Lilywhites have struggled on the domestic stage for the entirety of Bergvall’s time in the Premier League, finishing in 17th place in back-to-back campaigns, which, in some regards, can overshadow their Europa League triumph in 2025, given the close brush with relegation that they had last season.

These could have been the reasons that led the Swedish wonderkid to request a transfer away from Tottenham earlier on in the month, which has caught the eye of several teams around Europe, who are looking to bolster their midfield departments, which, when paired with his transfer value being listed at €35 million, per Transfermarkt, means the list of clubs who are interested could be plentiful.

While there isn’t an exact idea of the teams that are all interested in acquiring Bergvall in the coming months, one team has become an apparent contender for the Swede: the German giants, Bayern Munich.

As reported by Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, the reigning Bundesliga champions are slated to be interested in signing Bergvall in the summer window. Their interest in the North London-based wonderkid makes sense, as they’ll have to look to fill in the midfield slot that was left by the departures of Leon Goretzka, whose contract at the Allianz expired at the end of the season.

It’s worth pointing out that Bergvall doesn’t fill the same frame that Goretzka does on the pitch, being slightly shorter and less stocky, which matters when you’re dueling opponents in the middle of the pitch. The Swedish star puts up solid numbers on both ends of the pitch, getting involved in five goal contributions, while recording ten interceptions and winning out on 17 tackles in the midfield across his 33 appearances for Spurs last season.

There also lies a solid possibility that Bergvall will return to his club’s training camp as an improved player, given his spot in Sweden’s camp for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will see the Tottenham wonderkid play alongside some veteran figures, as well as on the world’s biggest and brightest stage.

Konur was also quick to point out the domestic interest in Bergvall, with Chelsea and Aston Villa both being tied to eyeing the young Swedish player. If Bergvall values European football highly, it would be a sensible move to go with either the Bavarian club or the Villans, given that Champions League action is guaranteed next season.
