One of the top defensive backs from the 2028 recruiting cycle is heavily considering Auburn as his recruitment heats up.
Jaelyn Easterling-Flores, a four-star safety from Goodyear, Arizona, has trimmed his list to six teams and included the Auburn Tigers in the cut, according to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals. Despite being from the western portion of the United States, Easterling is focusing on schools in the ACC and SEC. LSU, Texas, and Oklahoma join Auburn as SEC teams remaining in the hunt, with Georgia Tech and Miami following suit from the ACC.
The race for Easterling-Flores’ signature appears to be close now that his list has been pruned to six. According to Rivals’ team predictions, Texas holds a small lead at 13.5%, followed by Oregon and Notre Dame. However, with Notre Dame and Oregon now out of the picture, Auburn is next in line with an 8.4% chance of landing Easterling-Flores.
Easterling-Flores burst onto the scene last season by logging 45 tackles, with six for a loss as a 10th grader at Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Arizona, and has been rewarded by adding 21 offers to his shelf since January. Auburn was the first to offer him in 2026 by extending an offer on Jan. 7. Since then, top programs including Texas, Penn State, Oklahoma, LSU, Ohio State, and Florida have followed Auburn’s lead.
Easterling-Flores is a four-star safety from the 2028 class, ranking No. 7 at his position and No. 2 among prospects from Arizona. He plans to take gameday visits to each of his top six schools and has tentatively set up a commitment date for January during the Navy All-American Bowl, according to a report by 247Sports.
