TikTok gave Knicks fans a viral rallying cry involving Zohran Mamdani

During this electrifying playoff run, New York Knicks fans have gathered outside Madison Square Garden. Many of their celebrations have gone viral.

It’s not surprising to see so many excited fans after the team made the NBA Finals for the first since 1999.

Even before this successful run, there is a long tradition of content created outside The World’s Most Famous Arena capturing attention. It wasn’t long ago that the catchphrase “bing bong” became a viral meme and online sensation, even receiving votes for New York City mayor in 2021.

Now a new catchphrase is popping up, and this time, it involves actual NYC mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Outside of MSG, a fan was interviewed and said something unforgettable:

“My mayor Muslim, my bagel’s Jewish, my Christian Dior,” the fan exclaimed. “Knicks in four!”

This rallying cry has caught on as countless others, including New York city council member Chi Ossé, have used it on social media. Others have made shirts, hats and various merchandise based on the sentiment.

The sentence is a nod to several things, including Mamdani, the first Muslim mayor of New York City.

But the fan also celebrated the multiculturalism of the five boroughs, like bagels, which are deeply rooted in Jewish culture.

He also mentioned the luxury brand Christian Dior, referencing the New York anthem “Dior” from 2020 by the late and legendary rapper Pop Smoke.

Knicks in four, meanwhile, is a prediction that New York would sweep the San Antonio Spurs in a perfect 4-0 series. The franchise needed just four games each to win the Eastern Conference finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Philadelphia 76ers.

But the rallying cry begins with Mamdani, who received more than 1.1 million votes to become mayor in November 2025. It was the first time a candidate received more than one million mayoral votes since 1969. Since taking office in January 2026, he has maintained a close relationship with the Knicks.

Earlier this season during Ramadan on March 14, the mayor shared an Iftar meal with Knicks rookie Mohamed Diawara. Mamdani also attended a game during the Eastern Conference finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

He posted a joke on social media after the Knicks secured a sweep against the Cavaliers and signed a playful executive order to repeal bedtimes so New York youth could stay up late to watch the NBA Finals.

Mamdani, as well as President Donald Trump, are both expected at Madison Square Garden for Game 3 of the championship series against the Spurs.
