Seattle — The Tigers have traded Casey Mize, the No. 1 overall pick in the draft in 2018, to the San Diego Padres on Monday.
A source familiar with the situation confirmed multiple media reports to The Detroit News.
Mize, 29, is 4-6 this season with a 2.70 ERA and 0.99 WHIP over 16 starts. Mize is 27-31 in parts of six seasons with the Tigers, with a 3.95 ERA. He’s coming off a season in which he was 14-6 with a 3.87 ERA and 1.27 WHIP in 28 starts.
