A new season of college football in College Station brings an opportunity for newcomers to make their impact and fill in the gaps of lost production from last year’s team.
Entering his third season at the helm, head coach Mike Elko has built a reputation for developing true freshmen into playmakers in Aggieland. Texas A&M’s College Football Playoff appearance and a slew of talented fresh faces have created massive expectations for the upcoming campaign. While several returning veterans will be called upon to carry the load, the young talent Elko and company hauled in via the No. 7 recruiting class will have opportunities to show what they can bring to the table for Texas A&M.
Out of all the true freshmen on the Aggies’ roster, wide receiver Aaron Gregory has turned the most heads this offseason. The four-star brings elite speed to Elko’s offense in 2026 with a background as a former track and field star in high school. Gregory’s speed, agility and ability to create separation downfield make him a perfect fit as an outside receiver. According to Alabama transfer Isaiah Horton, Gregory has impressed on and off the field with his quickness and mature mindset. Despite a smaller frame, he has the potential to see increased playing time for plays like these.
Bryce-Perry Wright was a massive get for Elko and company in the 2026 class, who could make a huge splash in the trenches for Texas A&M’s defense this season. The four-star defensive linemen ranked as the No. 12 player in the nation and No. 8 in the state of Georgia, finishing his senior campaign with 106 total tackles, 17 tackles for loss and seven sacks. The loss of Cashius Howell, Tyler Onyedim and Albert Regis to the 2026 NFL Draft leaves an opportunity for Wright to become the next rising star on Elko’s gritty defensive unit.
The five-star corner from San Diego, California, comes to College Station as the top-rated player at the position and in his home state. Brandon Arrington ranked as the No. 8 overall player in the 2026 class and has impressed the Texas A&M coaching staff this offseason. His elite speed and physical readiness to play the position at the college level could allow him to get many snaps in his true freshman season, even with talented veterans ahead of him on the depth chart, like Dezz Ricks and Tennessee transfer Rickey Gibson III.
